2012 Show Rules & Year End Points
General Show Rules
1. APHA show rules apply as appropriate except where a GPHC rule conflicts, in which case, the GPHC rules will apply.
2. Owner(s) of the horse must be a paid member in good standing with GPHC and APHA.
3. All ownership requirements set forth by APHA will be observed by GPHC.
4. Each horse may have only one rider per class. However, exhibitors may show more than one horse in a class except for equitation and horsemanship as required by APHA rules.
5. Classes with 20 or more riders on the flat may be split. Each group will be judged with top exhibitors from each group competing for final placing. One set of ribbons will be awarded to the class at the final placing.
6. In classes with age requirements, eligibility is determined by the rider's age as of January 1 of the show year. Proof of age for horse or rider may be requested.
7. Current negative Coggins test must be shown at registration, or a copy must be on file with the show office for all horses on the grounds as required by the Georgia Department of Agriculture.
8. All exhibitors are required to wear the appropriate show attire for their discipline as required by APHA rules. GPHC Officers, Board Members, & Show Officials are not responsible for checking headgear worn for such compliance.
9. No personal checks will be accepted from any person that has given two (2) Insufficient Funds checks to GPHC in any given year.
10. All appeals must be presented to the appropriate ring chairperson. Further appeals will be ruled on by show officials.
11. All decisions by show officials are final.
12. Discourtesies to show officials may result in rider, trainer, or spectator being excused from the show for the day.
13. All points are based on a horse/rider combination except Halter, which is based on horse only, and Equitation, which is based on the rider only.
14. Membership meeting will be held at each show on Saturday evening after all events are completed.
15. All stalls will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. Same stall preference will be considered for each show, but will not be guaranteed with or without an early reservation.
16. No GPHC officer or Board Member can serve on the Board if they are an Independent Contractor hired in a paid position of the GPHC, as this is a conflict of interest.
Year-End Points
1. The Board of Directors of GPHC will settle any conflict of the rules for Year-End points.
2. A running total of Year-End points will be kept by the GPHC Show Secretary and Show Manager and shall be made readily available upon request for any GPHC member in good standing.
3. Cumulative Points will be posted on the GPHC website and published in the GPHC
Newsletter (as time and space permit). Points will be available at GPHC shows as well as Rules of Eligibility.
4. GPHC points for each class will be awarded in the following manner based on the number of horses in the class:

a. One (1) point will be earned solely for participation.
b. If only one horse is in a class, you will receive one participation point.
c. In any class, points shall be awarded based on the total number of horses actually
judged, whether or not a disqualification occurs. Example: if 10 horses were entered and exhibited, and 2 were disqualified, points would be based on 10 horses, not 8. No points will be awarded to a disqualified horse/rider.
d. Additional Halter points apply to all Stallions, Mares, and Geldings and will be earned as follows:
i. Grand Champion at halter will receive two (2) additional points.
ii. Reserve Champion at halter will receive one (1) additional point.
5. In case of a tie for year-end awards, two awards will be presented as "Co-Champion" or "Co-
Reserve Champion", whichever the case may be.
Year-End Awards to be:
1. High Point and Reserve High Point awards will be given to each individual class with entries that have met the participation judge and show requirements, regardless of the number of entries in the class.
2. Where classes are offered as Junior Horse and Senior Horse, but are often combined to increase entries, both High Point Junior and Senior Horse will be recognized respectively.
3. High Point and Reserve High Point Halter Stallion, Mare, and Gelding will be awarded in addition to the individual halter classes.
4. Lead-Line 3-8: GPHC points will be counted on the rider only. (Changing of the horse or the leader will not count as a penalty.)
5. Open Walk-Trot: GPHC points to be counted on the horse. (This class does not count toward High Point or Reserve High Point Open Performance Horse.)
6. High Point and Reserve High Point Open Performance will be awarded:
a. The appropriate halter class is required to be eligible for this award.
b. A minimum of three performance classes is required to be eligible for this award.
c. Additional classes will be tabulated as well, after the minimum requirements are met.
d. These horses may have multiple exhibitors without being penalized.
7. High Point and Reserve High Point All-Around Youth. Each age group will be awarded:
a. Novice Youth, Walk-Trot 5-9, Thirteen & Under, and 14-18.
b. The appropriate halter class is required to be eligible for this award.
c. A minimum of three performance classes is required to be eligible for this award.
d. Same horse and rider combination must be maintained to constitute eligibility.
8. High Point and Reserve High Point All-Around Amateur. Each group will be awarded.
a. Novice Amateur and Amateur.
b. The appropriate halter class is required to be eligible for this award.
c. A minimum of three performance classes is required to be eligible for this award.
d. Same horse and rider combination must be maintained to constitute eligibility
9. End of the Day High Point Division Awards. Amateur, Novice Amateur, Novice Youth,
Youth Walk Trot 5-9, Youth 13 & Under, Youth 14-18, and Open:
a. The appropriate halter class is required to be eligible for this award.
b. A minimum of three performance classes is required to be eligible for this award.
c. Additional classes will be tabulated as well after the minimum requirements are met.
d. End of the Day awards are final after ten (10) days, allowing time for an audit of point tabulation. Awards taken at the end of the day are subject to recall to be in good
standing with GPHC.
e. End of the Day division high points are awarded to Champion and Reserve Champion only. Horse/rider combinations must enter the majority (greater than 50%) of classes in a division to be eligible of day end awards.
Eligibility
1. To be eligible for a Year-End award, the owner and/or exhibitor of the horse must complete a total of five (5) hours work credit at shows
a. Working the gate at shows.
b. Presenting ribbons at shows.
c. Any volunteer activity as set forth by the Board of Directors and/or the Volunteer
Coordinator.
2. Work credit hours will be recorded with the volunteer coordinator at each show.
3. Horses must be shown under at least 60% of the total number of judges during the GHPC show season.
4. GPHC membership dues must be paid and current by the first show of the year to be eligible for Year-End awards.
INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURE
In the event of inclement weather, show officials will make a decision on the status of the show by noon Friday before the show. If the show is canceled, a cancellation notice will be posted on the GPHC website. If there is no cancellation notice, the show will be held as scheduled.
