GPHC Year End Award Rules

1.  Owner(s) of the horse must be a paid member in good standing with GPHC as well as APHA.

2.  All ownership reguirements set forth by APHA for Youth or Amateur competitors will be observed by GPHC.

3.  Any conflict of the rules for Year-End points will be settled by the Board of Directors of GPHC.

4.  A running total of Year-End points will be kept by the GPHC Show Secretary and Show Manager and shall be readily available for any member in good standing with GPHC.

5.  Points will be posted on the GPHC website and published in the GPHC Newsletter (as time and space permit).  Points will be available at GPHC shows as well as Rules of Eligibility.

6.  GPHC points for each class will be awarded in the following manner.
    A.  1 point will be received solely for participation.

  B.  If only one horse is in a class, you will receive a participation point.
  C.  Horses standing Grand Champion at halter will receive two (2) additional points, and
        Reserve Champion at halter will receive one (1) additional point.  This includes Stallions,
        Mares, and Geldings.

7.  To be Eligible for a Year-End award, the owner and/or exhibitor of the horse must complete a total of five (5) hours work credit (at shows) working the gate or presenting ribbons or other volunteer activity.  By attending at least one General Membership Meeting (spring or fall), a participant can earn two (2) hours of work credit.  Work credit hours will be recorded with the volunteer coordinator at each show.  In addition, the horse must be shown under 60% of the total number of judges and in at least three weekends of the GPHC show season.  In 2006, for Open classes - 14 judges; for Novice, Youth, and Amateur classes - 17 judges.  EXCEPTION;  Lead-Line, Weanling, and 2 Year Old classes must show to 9 judges.

8.  In case of a tie for year-end awards, two awards will be presented as "Co-Champion" or "Co- Reserve Champion", whichever the case may be.

9.  Awards to be given:
   A.  High Point and Reserve High Point awards will be given to each individual class with entries that have met the participation judge and show requirements, regardless of the number of entries in the class.
   B.  Where classes are offered as Junior Horse and Senior Horse, but are often combined to increase entries, both High Point Junior and Senior Horse will be recognized respectively.
   C.  High Point and Reserve High Point Halter Stallion, Mare, and Gelding will be awarded in addition to the individual halter classes.
   D.  Lead-Line 3-8:  GPHC points will be counted on the rider only.  (Changing of the horse or the leader will not count as a penalty.)
   E.  Open Walk-Trot:  GPHC points to be counted on the horse.  (This class does not count toward High Point or Reserve High Point Open Performance Horse.)

10.  High Point and Reserve High Point Open Performance will be awarded:
   A.  The appropriate halter class is required to be eligible for this award.
   B.  A minimum of three performance classes are required to be eligible for this award.
   C.  Additional classes will be tabulated as well, after the minimum requirements are met.
   D.  These horses may have multiple exhibitors without being penalized.

11.  High Point and Reserve High Point All-Around Youth.  Each age group will be awarded:
   A.  Novice Youth, Walk-Trot 5-9, Thirteen & Under, and 14-18.
   B.  The appropriate halter class is required to be eligible for this award.
   C.  A Minimum of three performance classes are required to be eligible for this award.
   D.  Same horse and rider combination must be maintained to constitute eligibility.

12.  High Point and Reserve High Point All-Around Amateur.  Each group will be awarded.
   A.  Novice Amateur and Amateur.
   B.  The appropriate halter class is required to be eligible for this award.
   C.  A minimum of three performance classes are required to be eligible for this award.
   D.  Same horse and rider combination must be maintained to constitute eligibility

13.  For End of the Day High Point Division Awards - Amateur, Novice Amateur, Novice Youth,Youth Walk Trot 5-9, Youth 13 & Under, Youth 14-18, and Open:
   A.  The appropriate halter class is required to be eligible for this award.
   B.  Must show in a minimum of three performance classes to be eligible for this award.
   C.  Additional classes will be tabulated as well after the minimum requirements are met.

14.  End of the Day awards become final after 10 days, allowing time for an audit of point tabulation.  Awards taken at the end of the day are subject to recall to be in good standing with GPHC.
